After being closed for 8 years, in 2019 we re-established an old neighbourhood pub site – and created the Leytonstone Tavern, serving up award winning taco’s and burgers. The Duke, another neighbourhood pub in the back streets of residential Wanstead, relaunched in 2014, we took the opportunity to create events to re establish the pub at the heart of the community. I don’t know if the story really starts with me trying rendang for the first time at a food market in London, or if it was that my job in international development took me to some incredible corners of the World. Maybe, it should start with being surrounded by entrepreneurial people while growing up in Nigeria; seeing that if you want to make your way in the world, you need to be adaptable, and courageous. Perhaps it simply starts with the comfort of my family’s cooking.
