Rice Bandits

29.4 miles from Luton
We offer authentic Malaysian/Singaporean rice and noodle bowls, such as our signature beef rendang and braised pork belly. In London, these dishes are typically served in Asian sit-down restaurants, however, we like to stick to our rootsand serve these dishes as a fast takeaway, as how it is done in Singapore/Malaysia. This specific “fast food” cuisine is known as “Cai Fan” (菜饭), or colloquially recognised as “Economy Rice”. Economy rice is a combination of meat and vegetable dishes and rice, commonly found at. street vendors or hawker centres in South East Asia. I was working for the NHS as an inpatient Hospital Social Worker during the global pandemic in 2020. As a result of lockdown, many eateries including the hospital canteen were closed. In a bid to boost morale, I decided to prepare free meals for my hospital colleagues. This fuelled my passion for catering and thought that something bigger could come out of this. I started selling rice boxes over instagram as a side hustle, where I would meet my customers at tube stations during lunchtime. Rice Bandits was subsequently birthed, and my life changed (for the better!) when I joined a business incubator program in August 2022! After successfully completing the business incubator program, we commenced market trading in September 2022. Today, we currently trade at 4 markets per week: Westminster’s Strutton Ground market and KERB markets. We also actively cater for offices and large scale events such as MCM Comic Con, Accenture Summer Party. Adobe Summer Party, Natural History Museum Staff Party and other corporate institutions. What sets us apart from our competition is our ability to serve up delicious food in record breaking times (average 20 seconds per order)

Sen Noods

Sen Noods

Rated 5.0 (1 review) in total | 27.6 miles from Luton
With Godfrey growing up in Hong Kong, he always enjoyed traveling around and trying different Eastern and Southeast Asian cuisines. There is always one type of dish that is enjoyed in all eastern cultures, and that is a hot bowl of noodle soup. There are so many different versions and each represents ingredients that were special to the regions, and their cultural influences. We are two friends from school, and we want to share the noodles we grew up eating, and the ones we enjoy making. We hope to make both traditional and non-traditional noodle soups, when we travel, we especially hope to incorporate locally sourced ingredients into your East Asian inspired noodles dishes. Godfrey Lui “Being from Hong Kong, I have had the privilege to be exposed to a huge variety of cuisines. However, ever since I started University in the UK, I found that the only way to enjoy good food while saving money living in London, was to start cooking myself. From then on, I have found joy not only in eating good food but also seeing the happy faces when others enjoy the food I made. Even after I started working as a Data Scientist in the city, my mind still revolved around what I should get for lunch or what I should cook for dinner. This eventually led to the decision of starting a food truck after lockdown, when I have learnt that this is what I enjoy doing the most.” Johnny Rogerson “After growing up in a very multicultural Switzerland, where it was the norm to be invited to friends' houses for lunches or sleepovers, where parents who were originally from different backgrounds would serve me different cuisines than what I would’ve been used to at home. Therefore from an early age I’ve been fascinated by flavours and how you can incorporate them to make a dish stand out from the rest. I carried this on when I became a chef a few years ago, but unfortunately I lost my taste & smell to covid in early 2020, and yes it might just be good timing with my nervous system growing back, but coincidence or not, Godfrey’s noodles brought a smile back to my face after a very depressing year in terms of food. May as well share that feel-good feeling via East Asian noodles with as many people as possible.”
