Basement 17 was forged in our tiny basement flat in Bristol during the covid pandemic. It started with tacos for our neighbours every Wednesday and has since evolved into a catering company with fire at its core. Carlos and Emily both share a passion for delivering the highest service and food. Carlos, originally from Mexico, draws on his childhood memories and love of Mexican flavours and combines this with local, seasonal produce from the South West to produce mouth-watering feasts. Carlos has worked in and run both Mexican and Mediterranean kitchens for many years and Emily has worked in management positions in pubs and cafes. What started with the spark of an idea one night has rapidly developed into the catering enterprise that we are today. Based in South Somerset, we now travel all over the South West bringing the flames to you. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by the freshest and best produce and source as much as we can from local suppliers. All our meat comes from Bagnell farm, our potatoes from our local grower and fish from Kingfisher of Brixham. We cater for anything from intimate parties to large weddings, corporate events, pop ups and street food festivals creating menus to suit each individual event and customer.

We are NUGS®, a London-born fried chicken brand with one mission: to serve up seriously good fried chicken! From a back garden in East London with a £20 fryer to two pop-up locations and an events set-up, NUGS® has grown into something much bigger. In 2025, we were proud to win Deliveroo’s Best Chicken in London award, a massive milestone for us. We have taken the nugget to the next level by marinating our chicken for 24 hours, soaking in buttermilk, dredging in our secretly seasoned gluten-free flour mix, frying to order and finally coating in one of our incredible flavours that we make in-house daily! Choose from Bad-Boy Buffalo, Korean Heat, Smokey Joe's BBQ or maybe you want to keep things simple with our Original! We serve these up with some perfectly seasoned skin-on fries or delicious tater tots. All of our chicken is Red Tractor assured, halal and for our vegan friends we have some delicious crispy cauliflower NUGS! We have two options for private events - we can bring a small marquee setup to give that classic street-food, market stall-type feel or we have our brand new container trailer for those that have the space. We are super proud of this unit and it is often spoke of as the best looking trailer at the likes of Formula 1, Download Festival, Reading Festival and loads more.
