We started our business with one simple idea: festivals deserve genuinely great food. What began as a love for New York–style pizza quickly turned into an obsession with getting it right. It took us ages to perfect our dough recipe, tweaking, testing, and starting again until we landed on something we were truly proud of. That process is really where our passion comes from — caring deeply about quality, even in a fast-paced festival environment. All our pizzas are served out of our Citroen HY trailer, which always gets plenty of attention at events and does us proud. We serve homemade New York–style pizza, stretched to a full 20 inches and sold by the huge slice, so people can grab something proper to eat on the go and not miss their favourite act. Everything is designed with festivals in mind: easy to eat on the go, no pizza boxes to reduce waste, and all packaging fully compostable using Biopak serveware. Basement 17 was forged in our tiny basement flat in Bristol during the covid pandemic. It started with tacos for our neighbours every Wednesday and has since evolved into a catering company with fire at its core. Carlos and Emily both share a passion for delivering the highest service and food. Carlos, originally from Mexico, draws on his childhood memories and love of Mexican flavours and combines this with local, seasonal produce from the South West to produce mouth-watering feasts. Carlos has worked in and run both Mexican and Mediterranean kitchens for many years and Emily has worked in management positions in pubs and cafes. What started with the spark of an idea one night has rapidly developed into the catering enterprise that we are today. Based in South Somerset, we now travel all over the South West bringing the flames to you. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by the freshest and best produce and source as much as we can from local suppliers. All our meat comes from Bagnell farm, our potatoes from our local grower and fish from Kingfisher of Brixham.
