Basement 17 was forged in our tiny basement flat in Bristol during the covid pandemic. It started with tacos for our neighbours every Wednesday and has since evolved into a catering company with fire at its core. Carlos and Emily both share a passion for delivering the highest service and food. Carlos, originally from Mexico, draws on his childhood memories and love of Mexican flavours and combines this with local, seasonal produce from the South West to produce mouth-watering feasts. Carlos has worked in and run both Mexican and Mediterranean kitchens for many years and Emily has worked in management positions in pubs and cafes. What started with the spark of an idea one night has rapidly developed into the catering enterprise that we are today. Based in South Somerset, we now travel all over the South West bringing the flames to you. AROMA prides itself in using the most basic ingredients however with the most flavoursome result! I know it doesn’t sound possible but it’s true. We specialise ourselves in PICANHA steak which is a South American cut similar to sirloin (but more tender and juicier) and at the same time we use only local sourced meat (to reduce our CO2 impact) we also stay loyal to our Brazilian butcher who knows our meat and cuts. Steak and Chips may sound like a basic meal, but we make up for it in flavour and what makes us stand out amongst other competitors is that we cook to order, yes! That’s right. You will watch us grilling your steak right in front of you whilst you wait, and the smell is what attracts yet more customers. We do not use any oil or vegetable fat in our grill, so the steak is cooked in its own fat.
