Hiring a food van for your event is not only a delicious and memorable way to feed your guests, but they're also unique and fun, always bring excitement to the celebration and are a stunning backdrop for photos. But how much does it cost to hire a food truck? We’re here to answer all your questions.

Why hire a food truck in the first place?

Food trucks are not only a great talking point at any event, they're also convenient in that they can be set up just about anywhere. Our trucks come in an exciting array of shapes, sizes, colours, themes and styles - something to suit every venue and theme.

Breaking down the costs

The cost of a food truck varies depending on several factors such as the style of the truck, the menu, the duration of your event, the number of expected guests and the desired location.

Style of the food truck

As a general rule, a larger truck is designed to cater to a larger number of guests, and will require more staffing, fuel and other associated costs. This means that you can expect to pay more compared to a smaller truck that is designed for smaller functions, weddings or private parties for example.

Your menu

Your chosen menu will impact the cost of your food truck rental. If you choose a menu that requires more ingredients or more expensive ingredients, you can expect to see this reflected in your end cost. A menu with simple dishes will be cheaper compared to a menu with gourmet dishes, the same is true for a menu with two items when compared to a menu with ten items. For example, a food truck serving lobster rolls or venison burgers, will have a higher cost per head/total cost compared to a crepe van.

Event duration

The duration of the event is also an important factor to consider when determining the cost of a food truck rental. If you need the truck for a full day, you'll pay more than if you only need the truck for a few hours. The longer the truck is at your event, the more it will cost. This is because staff will require payment by hour, longer events serve more food, and often serve a more varied range of food; as well as being potentially equipped for multiple servings or different courses.

The location

And last but certainly not least is your event location. Where your event is situated will ultimately impact the cost of your food truck rental. If the event is in a remote area or a location that requires more travel, the cost will be higher compared to an event in an easy to access location. The caveat here is that events in Central London may be subject to a higher cost owing to parking difficulties and added costs for the caterers such as ULEZ charges.

So, how much does it cost to hire a food truck for your event?

On average, you can expect to spend anywhere from £500 to £5,000 depending on the factors mentioned above. As a general rule of thumb, you should budget to spend around £11-£15 per head.

Keep in mind that this is just an estimate, and the actual cost will depend on your specific requirements. We always recommend speaking directly to your chosen food truck supplier to iron out all the details.
