With Covid putting my "day job" on hold, I spent months researching the history of Hampton Court and Henry VIII, talking to Tudor food historians, visiting the palace kitchen gardens, and learning how to distil 500 years of history into a beautiful gin. The Six Wives is made with six distinctive botanicals all found in Henry's kitchen gardens and spices he imported to liven up his legendary feasts . Oranges first introduced to England by Katherine of Aragon in 1509. Thyme grown in the palace kitchen gardens by Cardinal Wolsey. Grains of Paradise imported from Java. Cubeb Berries from West Africa. Bitter Almond and of course Juniper. Followed in November 2021 by our Limited Release "Lord of Misrule", inspired by the Tudor festive tradition where the roles of King and servant were reversed during the 12 Days of Christmas with opulent masquerades, wild partying and culminating in the raucous Feast of Fools.
